Champaign, IL – Central Illinois residents can expect a shift in weather this weekend, starting with frigid temperatures before climbing to near 40°F early next week. Prepare for clear skies and a mix of cool nights and warmer daytime highs.
According to the National Weather Service, Friday brings sunny skies with highs around 22°F. Overnight temperatures will dip to a frosty 16°F, with wind chills ranging from 4°F to 12°F. If you’re headed outdoors, dress in layers to stay warm.
Saturday looks mostly sunny, with highs improving to 37°F as southwest winds help temperatures climb. By Saturday night, expect partly cloudy skies and a low around 19°F. While the cold persists at night, Sunday will bring more sunshine and a high near 29°F.
Looking ahead, the warming trend continues Monday with sunny skies and highs reaching 39°F. By Tuesday, temperatures could rise to the mid-40s, signaling a welcome break from the deep freeze.
Drivers should remain cautious as gusty winds may create icy patches on roads, especially during the morning and late evening hours. Major roadways, including I-57 and U.S. 150, may see slick spots overnight when temperatures dip below freezing.
Residents are encouraged to monitor forecasts and take advantage of milder weather for outdoor plans early next week.
