Champaign, IL – Scattered thunderstorms arriving from the west this evening will bring rain and possible lightning to Central Illinois. The storms are expected to linger into Wednesday, mainly affecting areas south of I-72.

According to the US National Weather Service Central Illinois, Wednesday will see a 60% chance of storms, particularly in the late morning and early afternoon. High temperatures will reach around 88°F. By Thursday, the scattered storms will persist, with a 40-60% chance of rain throughout the day and highs around 83°F.

Friday brings a change as a frontal system is forecasted to sweep through, significantly reducing precipitation chances. Early morning hours might still see a 20-30% chance of rain, but the day will clear up, with temperatures dropping slightly to around 82°F.

Looking ahead, the weekend promises more stable weather. Saturday and Sunday are expected to be sunny with highs of 82°F and 83°F, respectively. This dry spell will continue into the start of next week, with Monday’s forecast showing partly cloudy skies and a slight 40% chance of rain and temperatures peaking at 81°F.
