Lincoln, IL – Snow is expected to arrive in Central Illinois Thursday afternoon, continuing into the night. Forecasters predict a 30 to 50 percent chance of over one inch of snow north of I-70. Areas north of I-72 could see localized accumulations of up to two inches.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS), areas south of I-70 will likely experience less than one inch of snow. Slippery road conditions may develop during the Thursday evening commute, especially in regions expecting higher snowfall totals.

The heaviest snowfall is expected between noon and 6 p.m., tapering off by 6 a.m. Friday. While widespread heavy snow is unlikely, travel disruptions remain possible, particularly on untreated roadways.

Drivers are urged to exercise caution and allow extra time for travel. The NWS recommends checking local forecasts and road conditions before heading out.
