Quad Cities, IA/IL – Rain is expected to continue through 6 a.m. for areas along and south of Interstate 80.
The National Weather Service reports light to moderate rain could lead to ponding on roadways, especially in low-lying areas. Drivers should remain cautious during the morning commute. Rain further north near Highway 30 could mix with or change to wet snow. However, little accumulation is expected as temperatures remain above freezing.
Some areas south of Highway 20 may see slick spots on bridges and overpasses as freezing conditions develop. Officials encourage drivers to monitor updated road conditions and adjust travel plans as needed.
The weather service advises caution, particularly on elevated surfaces, where ice could form. Temperatures are forecast to hover near freezing through the early morning hours. Rain and snow will taper off later in the morning, improving travel conditions.
