Central Illinois to See Sweltering Heat with Highs Near 105 Degrees Monday

Lincoln, IL – Central Illinois residents are preparing for a stretch of intense heat and humidity beginning today and continuing through Monday. The National Weather Service predicts temperatures peaking with heat indices reaching near 105 degrees.

According to the National Weather Service Central Illinois, today’s temperatures are expected to hit highs of 89-93 degrees, with a heat index of 95-101 degrees. Tonight, lows will range from 69 to 71 degrees. Isolated storm chances are present, particularly north of Peoria.

Monday will be the hottest day, with highs reaching between 90-94 degrees and heat indices soaring to 98-105 degrees. The heat, combined with high humidity, will make outdoor activities potentially hazardous. Overnight lows are expected to be between 70-74 degrees, with isolated storms possible.

Tuesday will see some relief with temperatures ranging from 82-94 degrees. Northern areas may experience isolated storms, particularly north of I-74, with lows dipping to 59-67 degrees at night.

A significant cooldown is expected on Wednesday, with temperatures falling to 78-83 degrees and lower humidity. Overnight temperatures will be between 59-64 degrees, providing much-needed relief from the heat wave.

Residents are advised to stay hydrated, limit outdoor activities, and check on vulnerable individuals and pets during this extreme weather period.
