Springfield, IL – Central and southeast Illinois will remain locked in a stretch of dry, unseasonably warm weather for the next several days, according to the National Weather Service in Lincoln.

Forecasters say temperatures will push into the upper 80s and near 90 degrees Sunday through Tuesday, a pattern that has extended drought conditions across the state. By Wednesday and Thursday, highs are expected to cool slightly into the lower-to-mid 80s. Overnight lows will stay mild, ranging from the mid-50s to low 60s.

According to the National Weather Service, skies will stay mostly clear and sunny, with only a few periods of partly cloudy conditions midweek. No rain is currently in the forecast, leaving farmers and residents in drought-affected areas hoping for relief.

Meteorologists emphasize that while these conditions are unusual for late September, no immediate weather hazards are expected beyond the persistence of dryness. The stretch of warm, sunny days may be welcome for outdoor plans but continues to stress crops and lawns across central and southeast Illinois.

Residents are advised to monitor drought updates and conserve water where possible as dry conditions remain in place.
