Melbourne, FL – A high risk of rip currents is expected along Volusia and northern Brevard County beaches today, posing a threat to swimmers and beachgoers. Showers will spread inland by the afternoon, accompanied by possible embedded lightning storms. Temperatures will climb to the upper 80s.

According to the National Weather Service, rip currents can sweep even strong swimmers into deeper waters, creating life-threatening conditions. Beach visitors are strongly advised to avoid swimming and stay out of the surf. The risk is expected to last throughout the day.

For those in the area, today’s weather will bring humid conditions, with a 45% chance of rain. Sunday will see continued storm activity, with temperatures remaining in the high 80s. Heading into next week, Monday and Tuesday will offer some relief with clearer skies, but storms are forecast to return by Wednesday and Thursday.
