Hanford, CA – The US National Weather Service in Hanford warns of strong winds expected to impact parts of central and southern California, particularly along the Mojave Desert Slopes, beginning early Wednesday morning and lasting through 10 a.m. Thursday.

Forecasters report sustained west winds of 25 to 35 mph, with gusts approaching 50 mph, especially across elevated terrain and desert passes. These conditions may cause hazardous travel for high-profile vehicles, including trucks and RVs.

According to the weather service, the storm system moving through the region could also bring blowing dust, reducing visibility and creating sudden wind gusts that may require corrective steering. Motorists are advised to avoid large trucks and tractor-trailers during peak wind hours and to keep both hands on the steering wheel when driving through open areas.

Winds are expected to gradually ease by late Thursday morning as the system moves east. Drivers crossing Interstate 5, Highway 58, and nearby desert routes should remain alert for dangerous crosswinds and debris.
