Little Rock, AR – The National Weather Service (NWS) in Little Rock is warning Arkansans to prepare for a wet and stormy Monday, with a slight risk of severe weather spreading across the southern half of the state. Forecasters expect showers, thunderstorms, and locally heavy rain through early Tuesday morning.
According to the NWS Little Rock, all modes of severe weather are possible Monday afternoon into the evening, including damaging winds up to 60 mph, large hail near one inch, and the possibility of an isolated tornado or two—particularly across southern Arkansas where warm, unstable air may develop.
Rainfall totals between 1 and 2 inches are expected statewide, with locally higher amounts possible across western and southwestern Arkansas. Meteorologists caution that isolated flash flooding could develop in low-lying areas and along poor-drainage roadways.
The storm system will clear out by Tuesday as a strong cold front sweeps across the state, ushering in much colder and drier air for the Thanksgiving holiday. High pressure is expected to dominate from Wednesday through Friday, keeping skies clear but temperatures below average statewide.
Residents are urged to monitor weather alerts, secure outdoor items, and have multiple ways to receive warnings throughout the day.
