Little Rock, AR – A cold weather advisory warns central and northern Arkansas residents to prepare for subzero wind chills. Temperatures could feel as low as 3 below zero starting at midnight through 10 a.m. Sunday.

According to the National Weather Service, the advisory includes cities such as Mountain Home, Harrison, and Jasper. Bitter cold can cause frostbite on exposed skin in minutes and increase hypothermia risks. Wind chills this low are rare and dangerous for outdoor activities.

Residents should wear layered clothing, gloves, and hats if traveling outdoors. Keeping pets indoors during the cold snap is strongly recommended. Those in higher elevations, such as Newton and Searcy counties, may face the most severe impacts.

The advisory highlights the need for caution during travel and outdoor exposure. Officials encourage residents to take precautions to protect themselves and their pets.

This cold weather pattern serves as a reminder of the dangers associated with extreme temperatures.
