Flagstaff, AZ – The National Weather Service (NWS) in Flagstaff is warning residents across north-central and central Arizona to prepare for another round of thunderstorms today, Monday, October 13. The agency reports that showers and storms have been ongoing overnight and are expected to continue throughout the day and into the evening.

According to the NWS, there’s a threat for isolated severe thunderstorms capable of producing damaging winds, hail, or even a tornado. In addition, an elevated threat for flash flooding is in effect, particularly across areas from Payson to Springerville, where soils remain saturated from recent rainfall.

Meteorologists have placed much of central Arizona under a Slight Risk for excessive rainfall, meaning at least a 15% chance that rainfall will exceed flash flood guidance within 25 miles of a location. Residents in low-lying or flood-prone areas are urged to remain alert and avoid driving through flooded roadways.

The weather pattern is expected to gradually dry out later this week, bringing a temporary break from the storms. Until then, NWS officials encourage the public to stay tuned for updates and monitor local alerts as conditions evolve.
