Little Rock, Ark. – Damaging wind gusts and isolated hail could hit central and northern Arkansas this afternoon as strong thunderstorms develop across the region.

According to the National Weather Service in Little Rock, a Marginal Risk (level 1 of 5) for severe weather is in effect through tonight for most of the state, with the greatest threat centered on the Ozarks, River Valley, and metro areas like Little Rock and Fayetteville. Storms are expected to begin after 3 p.m., with the most intense activity occurring between 4 p.m. and midnight. Winds up to 60 mph, quarter-size hail, and even an isolated tornado are possible.

Cities including Conway, Russellville, Mountain Home, and Jonesboro should prepare for scattered power outages and brief travel disruptions. Residents are urged to secure outdoor items, avoid unnecessary driving during storms, and stay weather-aware through local alerts.

This marks one of the first severe weather setups for Arkansas since early May. After tonight, conditions clear until another round of showers returns Tuesday into Wednesday next week.

Hazardous weather remains possible through midnight Thursday, with updates issued as conditions evolve.
