Cass County Police Seek Suspect After Village of Vandalia Shooting

Vandalia, MI – A 24-year-old man was shot in the foot during an argument early Wednesday in Vandalia, Michigan. Deputies were called to the scene at 18089 State St. around 1:51 a.m.

According to Cass County Sheriff Richard Behnke, the verbal argument between two men turned physical before one was shot. The suspect fled the scene before deputies arrived. Authorities report no public threat at this time.

The victim was transported to Elkhart General Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. The suspect, whose name has not been released, remains at large.

The Cass County Sheriff’s Office is leading the investigation with assistance from local and tribal law enforcement. Police are asking anyone with information to call the Cass County Tip Line at 800-462-9328.
