Caribou, ME – Forecasters are watching for a brief period of light freezing rain early Wednesday morning across northern Maine as a weak storm system lifts through the region, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Caribou.

The week begins calm, with mostly sunny skies Monday and highs in the 30s north to low 40s Downeast, followed by partly to mostly cloudy weather Tuesday as temperatures rise into the low 40s north and upper 40s near the coast.

An occlusion moving north midweek will bring a slight chance for light freezing rain early Wednesday morning before temperatures rise and the precipitation turns to rain by mid to late morning. Drivers in northern areas should use caution during the early commute due to possible icy spots on untreated roads.

Thanksgiving Day is expected to be cloudy to partly sunny, with highs in the upper 30s to upper 40s, followed by a breezy and cooler Friday that may bring scattered snow showers over the north and west.

Forecasters say no major storms are expected, but travelers should stay alert for any changes in the midweek forecast.
