Indianapolis, IN — Smoke from Canadian wildfires will affect skies across Illinois, Indiana, and Wisconsin in the coming days. The National Weather Service expects skies to appear hazy through early next week. Air quality is projected to remain moderate to good, but those sensitive to pollution should monitor conditions.

According to the U.S. National Weather Service, any smoke will likely stay in the upper atmosphere, reducing direct air quality impacts. However, residents may still notice hazy skies. Temperatures are expected to rise into the upper 80s and lower 90s by midweek.

In addition to the hazy skies, weather forecasts predict warm conditions across the region. Monday and Tuesday will bring highs in the 70s and 80s, climbing to the 90s by Wednesday.

While air quality will not reach dangerous levels, officials advise residents to be cautious, especially if they have respiratory conditions. Monitoring air quality reports and limiting outdoor activities may help mitigate potential health risks as the smoke passes through the region.
