San Bernardino, CA – A winter weather advisory and a winter storm watch have been issued for the San Bernardino County Mountains, bringing snow, strong winds, and hazardous travel conditions through Friday.

According to the National Weather Service in San Diego, a winter weather advisory will be in effect from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. Tuesday, with 3 to 5 inches of snow expected above 6,000 feet. A stronger winter storm watch will take effect Wednesday afternoon and last through Friday morning, bringing the potential for heavy snow and powerful wind gusts of up to 65 mph.

Snow levels will start above 6,500 feet Wednesday evening before dropping to 4,500 feet by Thursday morning and possibly as low as 3,500 feet by Thursday night. Accumulations could range from 3 to 5 inches below 5,000 feet, 6 to 12 inches above 6,000 feet, and up to 2 feet at elevations above 7,000 feet.

Travel conditions are expected to deteriorate, with icy roads, blowing snow, and reduced visibility making driving hazardous. The Tuesday morning and evening commutes may be impacted, and road closures are possible.

Residents are urged to monitor weather updates, drive with caution, and check road conditions by calling 511 before traveling.
