Yosemite, CA — A powerful winter storm is forecast to blanket the Sierra Nevada, including Yosemite National Park and the Upper San Joaquin River region, with up to 2 feet of snow beginning late Sunday night.

According to the National Weather Service in Hanford, the Winter Storm Warning remains in effect from 11 p.m. Sunday through 11 p.m. Tuesday, impacting areas such as Shaver Lake, Huntington Lake, and Lake Thomas Edison. Wind gusts could reach up to 65 mph, significantly reducing visibility and heightening the risk of falling trees.

Travel will likely become extremely difficult, especially along mountain passes and in remote areas. The storm is expected to disrupt both Monday morning and evening commutes, with the potential for road closures and delays throughout the region.

Residents and visitors are advised to avoid unnecessary travel. For those who must be on the road, officials urge carrying emergency supplies including food, water, and flashlights.
