Hanford, CA – A powerful winter storm continues to impact California’s Sierra Nevada, bringing heavy snowfall and high winds through Friday afternoon.

According to the National Weather Service in Hanford, a Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 4 p.m. Friday for areas including Yosemite National Park (outside the valley), Kings Canyon, Sequoia National Park, and the Upper San Joaquin River region. Additional snowfall could reach up to 19 inches, with wind gusts as strong as 65 mph.

Hazardous conditions could make travel difficult to impossible, especially in higher elevations. The Friday morning commute may be affected, and strong winds could cause extensive tree damage. Officials warn drivers to carry emergency supplies, including extra food, water, and a flashlight.

Those traveling in the region should check Caltrans road conditions by calling 511before heading out. Authorities advise delaying unnecessary travel until conditions improve.
