Eureka, CA – A winter storm is set to impact Northern Trinity County on Friday, bringing heavy snowfall and hazardous travel conditions along Highway 3. Forecasters predict accumulations between 5 and 8 inches, with up to a foot possible at higher elevations like Scott Mountain Pass.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS), snow will begin early Friday morning and continue into the afternoon before transitioning to rain by evening. Weaverville could see snowfall during the early morning hours, while gusty winds may further reduce visibility. Drivers should expect difficult travel conditions, especially on steep mountain roads.

A wind advisory is also in effect for Humboldt and Del Norte counties from late Thursday night through Friday morning, with gusts up to 50 mph on exposed ridges and coastal headlands. This may lead to falling tree branches and power outages, particularly near Cape Mendocino.

Looking ahead, the weekend remains unsettled with persistent rain on Saturday and Sunday, followed by cooler temperatures into next week. Residents should stay updated on road conditions and be prepared for potential travel disruptions.
