Eureka, CA – Rain will sweep across Eureka and Humboldt County on Wednesday, bringing potentially hazardous driving conditions along U.S. 101 before sunnier skies arrive by the weekend.

According to the National Weather Service, rain is expected to begin late Tuesday night, becoming steady by Wednesday morning with a 100% chance of precipitation. Winds from the south-southwest will reach 24 mph, making travel on U.S. 101 slick and challenging. Drivers should exercise caution, especially during morning and evening commutes.

Rain will continue into Wednesday night before tapering off, with new precipitation amounts between a quarter and half an inch possible. Thursday brings a welcome break, with mostly sunny skies and temperatures reaching 52°F, while Friday will see highs climb to 57°F under clear skies.

The warming trend will continue into the weekend as an arctic front exits the region. Saturday and Sunday are expected to be mostly cloudy with a chance of rain, but temperatures will rise to near 59°F. Residents are advised to stay updated on changing conditions and prepare for wet roads midweek.
