California Weather Alert: Rain Showers Expected in San Diego on Friday

San Diego, CA – San Diego residents should prepare for cooler temperatures and increased chances of rain as a weather shift begins Friday. Showers are likely across the region, with winds reaching up to 25 mph, signaling a breezy and damp start to the weekend.

According to the National Weather Service, showers are expected to develop late Thursday night, with a 40% chance of precipitation after 10 p.m. Temperatures will dip to a low of 54 degrees, and new rainfall accumulation is expected to be minimal, staying below a tenth of an inch. Drivers are advised to remain cautious on wet roadways and expect reduced visibility in some areas.

On Friday, the chance of showers rises to 50%, with partly sunny skies and a high near 60 degrees. West winds will intensify, reaching 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph in some areas. This combination of rain and gusty conditions could lead to slick roads and challenging driving conditions. It’s recommended that residents plan accordingly, especially during high-traffic hours on major routes such as I-5 and Highway 163.

Friday night will bring continued chances of rain, with mostly cloudy skies and a low around 50 degrees. Winds will remain breezy at 10 to 15 mph, again gusting up to 25 mph. New precipitation is expected to be minimal but could cause intermittent wet roadways.

The weekend forecast shows lingering chances of rain on Saturday, with partly sunny conditions and a high of 61 degrees. Winds will gradually ease, offering calmer conditions by Saturday afternoon. Clear skies are anticipated by Saturday night, with temperatures dropping to a low of 45.

Sunny weather returns Sunday, with a high near 64, offering a pleasant end to the weekend. The clear skies are expected to continue into Sunday night with mild temperatures around 48 degrees, giving residents a respite from the rain.
