Eureka, California – Drivers along U.S. Highway 101 through Eureka should prepare for patchy morning fog and gusty winds beginning Tuesday and lasting through midweek.

According to the National Weather Service, fog is expected to form before 8 a.m. Tuesday, with skies clearing by midday and highs near 56°F. Winds from the north-northwest could reach 15 mph, with gusts up to 23 mph. Wednesday continues the breezy trend, with gusts increasing to 30 mph by afternoon. Patchy fog is also expected again early Wednesday and Thursday mornings.

The combination of reduced visibility and strong gusts may impact coastal travel, particularly on exposed stretches of US-101. Local officials advise drivers to slow down and use low beams during foggy conditions. High-profile vehicles should exercise extra caution Wednesday due to increased wind risk.

Tuesday night will remain mostly cloudy, with lows around 47°F. A partly sunny and breezy Wednesday follows, with temperatures rebounding to a comfortable 57°F. Winds will persist into Wednesday night, with patchy fog once more forming before 2 a.m.

Looking ahead to the extended spring forecast, Thursday will bring morning fog followed by partial clearing, with highs near 58°F. Friday remains mostly cloudy with similar temperatures, and Saturday offers partly cloudy skies and a mild high of 47°F. Sunshine returns Sunday with a seasonable high near 58°F.

Patchy fog and brisk winds remain the key themes this week along California’s North Coast. Weather updates continue as conditions shift.
