Lakeport, CA – A frost advisory remains in effect for interior portions of Mendocino and southern Lake counties through 8 a.m. Saturday, as temperatures are expected to fall to near-freezing levels overnight.

According to the National Weather Service in Eureka, areas including Willits, Hopland, Covelo, Clearlake, Lakeport, and Middletown may experience temperatures as low as 33°F between 1 a.m. and 8 a.m. PDT Saturday. The advisory covers both northern and southeastern Mendocino Interior and Southern Lake zones.

Frost formation is likely in low-lying and sheltered areas, which could damage or kill unprotected outdoor plants. Residents are urged to cover sensitive vegetation and bring potted plants indoors where possible.

This advisory follows a stretch of relatively mild spring weather, with overnight lows falling below seasonal norms. While no hard freeze is expected, the conditions may still pose challenges to early growers and gardeners in rural and agricultural areas.

Officials recommend checking local microclimates and taking action tonight. For updated hazard maps and forecast details, visit the National Weather Service Eureka office at weather.gov.
