Los Angeles, California – Crosswinds strong enough to push semis across lanes could develop along the Interstate 5 corridor by late Monday morning, with gusts nearing 70 mph through Monday afternoon.

According to the National Weather Service in Los Angeles/Oxnard, a High Wind Watch is in effect from Monday morning through Monday afternoon for interior sections of San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara counties, the Southern Ventura County Mountains, the Interstate 5 Corridor near Tejon Pass, and the Antelope Valley foothills. Southwest winds are expected to increase to 20 to 30 mph, with gusts between 60 and 70 mph possible, especially across higher elevations and exposed passes.

Tejon Pass, Gorman, Pyramid Lake and the Highway 14 corridor near Acton and Palmdale are particularly vulnerable to strong crosswinds. Mountain roads near Figueroa Mountain, the La Panza Range and the Topatopa Mountains could also see downed tree limbs and isolated power outages.

Drivers of high-profile vehicles should consider delaying travel during peak wind hours. Secure patio furniture and loose outdoor items before winds ramp up. Additional advisories or warnings may be issued if wind speeds trend higher Monday.
