San Francisco, California – Bay Area residents should brace for minor flooding tonight as high tide pushes water into low-lying neighborhoods from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m.
According to the National Weather Service in San Francisco, a Coastal Flood Advisory is in effect due to nocturnal high tides, expected to peak near 6.93 feet at 11:48 p.m. Wednesday. Areas along the San Francisco and San Pablo Bays, particularly near the Bayshore and Highway 101 corridor, could see water encroaching onto parking lots, parks, and a few roads, though widespread closures are not anticipated.
Residents in flood-prone areas should avoid travel if possible and never drive through water of unknown depth. Barricades may be placed near vulnerable roadways — heed all posted warnings and prepare property accordingly.
While tonight’s flooding is expected to be minor, this early-summer advisory serves as a reminder that king tide events can recur throughout the season.
