Sacramento, CA – A powerful storm system will impact California starting Friday, bringing widespread rain, high-elevation snow, and gusty winds. The storm will last through Sunday, creating hazardous travel conditions across the region.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS) Sacramento, rain will drench lower elevations, with slick roads and possible flooding. Snow levels will start at 5,000 feet Friday and rise to 6,000–7,500 feet overnight. Higher elevations will see significant snowfall, making mountain travel dangerous.
The NWS warns of longer-than-usual commutes, ponding on roads, and rising water levels in rivers and streams. Breezy southerly winds will add to the storm’s impact, increasing the risk of downed trees and power outages.
Weather officials advise residents to prepare for wet conditions and travel disruptions. Those in higher elevations should plan for heavy snow and limited visibility. The stormy pattern may persist into next week.
