California – A trio of earthquakes struck California on Halloween, with tremors reported near The Geysers, Ferndale, and Highland Park. The strongest of these was a magnitude 3.3 quake, recorded at 3 km north-northwest of The Geysers. Occurring at a shallow depth of 3.8 km, the tremor registered at 10:14 a.m. PST, according to the Northern California Seismic Network.
Just hours later, a 2.5-magnitude earthquake was detected 102 km west of Ferndale. At 3:18 p.m., the United States Geological Survey (USGS) reviewed this quake, which reached a depth of 10 km.
The third tremor, a 2.8-magnitude quake, hit at 3:59 p.m., centered 4 km southeast of Highland Park in Los Angeles. Automatic systems recorded this quake at a 10 km depth. The USGS reported mild community responses in the Highland Park area.
While none of these earthquakes caused major damage, they underscore the persistent seismic activity in California. Authorities encourage residents to remain vigilant, prepared, and to report any shaking to help scientists track tremors.
