Sacramento, CA – A routine traffic stop on I-5 in Sacramento led to the discovery of nearly 100 pounds of methamphetamine this week. Officers from the California Highway Patrol’s Valley Division Special Enforcement team stopped the vehicle for speeding and noticed signs of potential drug trafficking.
According to officials, a K9 unit from the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department assisted and detected narcotics. Officers found 94.5 pounds of methamphetamine in the vehicle, leading to a significant drug seizure.
This operation highlights the dedication of law enforcement to keeping dangerous drugs off the streets. “Our officers demonstrate teamwork and vigilance daily,” said the California Highway Patrol in a statement. The department praised the efforts of its officers and K9 units for their swift action.
Authorities are continuing their investigation into the source of the drugs and potential connections to larger trafficking operations.
