Sacramento, Calif. – Triple-digit heat is set to grip Northern California starting Friday morning, with temperatures peaking between 99°F and 107°F and prompting a Heat Advisory through 11 p.m. Saturday.

According to the National Weather Service in Sacramento, the advisory includes the Central and Northern Sacramento Valley, Shasta Lake area, Delta-Carquinez Strait, and Sierra foothills. Cities under alert include Sacramento, Redding, Chico, Modesto, and Grass Valley. Overnight lows will offer little relief, staying in the mid-60s to mid-70s.

Major HeatRisk levels are forecast, increasing the chances of heat-related illness, especially for outdoor workers and vulnerable groups. Area rivers and lakes remain cold and swift-moving, creating dangerous conditions for those seeking water-based relief.

Sacramento could reach 102°F on Friday and 101°F Saturday, while Chico and Red Bluff are likely to see similar highs. Officials urge residents to drink water frequently, avoid direct sun, use air conditioning, and never leave pets or children in parked cars.

The advisory may be extended if conditions persist. Residents should check for updates and stay alert as temperatures climb.
