Hanford, CA – Dense fog across California’s San Joaquin Valley is causing hazardous driving conditions this Christmas morning, especially along Interstate 5. Visibility is reduced to just a quarter mile in some areas, posing significant risks for holiday travelers.

According to the National Weather Service in Hanford, the Dense Fog Advisory will remain in effect until 11 a.m. today. Drivers are advised to use low-beam headlights, slow down, and maintain extra distance from other vehicles to avoid accidents. The advisory spans areas including Bakersfield, Hanford, and Visalia, with particularly dangerous conditions east of I-5.

The fog is expected to lift by late morning, giving way to partly sunny skies and a high of 51 degrees in Hanford. However, patchy fog may return Wednesday night, prompting additional concerns for evening commuters.

Looking ahead, the post-Christmas travel period could bring changing weather. Thursday offers a mostly sunny forecast with a high near 55, but rain is likely by Friday night, with temperatures in the upper 50s. The weekend looks clearer, with partly sunny skies on Saturday and a high of 62.

Travelers are urged to check updated weather reports and plan routes carefully to avoid disruptions. For now, patience and caution remain key as foggy conditions linger across the region this morning.
