Spokane, WA – Eastern Washington faces a challenging weather pattern this week as freezing fog, rain, and snow are expected to impact travel through the weekend. Drivers on I-90 and other major roadways should prepare for reduced visibility and slick conditions.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS), a dense fog advisory remains in effect through Wednesday morning. Visibility may drop to less than a quarter-mile in affected areas, increasing the risk of accidents. Freezing fog and icy road surfaces are also possible during overnight hours. Travelers are urged to slow down and use extreme caution while navigating these conditions.
Thursday will bring a mix of rain and snow to the Spokane region, with snow levels dropping to 3,300 feet. Winds are expected to pick up, reaching 14 mph. These conditions could make mountain passes and higher elevations particularly hazardous. Rain is likely to continue into Friday, with precipitation chances nearing 80%.
Heading into the weekend, another storm system is forecast to move through the area, bringing more rain and a chance of snow Saturday night into Sunday. Temperatures are expected to hover in the low 30s during the nights and mid-40s during the day.
Residents should monitor updates from local weather authorities and plan their post-holiday travel accordingly. Carry chains if traveling in snowy regions and allow extra time for delays.
