Sacramento, CA – Drivers across Northern California are urged to exercise caution as a Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect until noon today. Reduced visibility, dropping to a quarter mile or less, is making conditions hazardous on major roadways, including I-5 and Highway 99.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Sacramento, the advisory impacts areas across the Sacramento Valley, Carquinez Strait, Delta, and Northern San Joaquin Valley. Fog began to develop overnight and is expected to persist through late morning, creating challenges for commuters and travelers.
Drivers are advised to use low-beam headlights, reduce speed, and increase their following distance. Officials warn that visibility may vary suddenly, with dense patches common in low-lying areas. These precautions are especially critical during the morning commute on busy highways.
The weather service forecasts clearer conditions by afternoon, with temperatures in Sacramento expected to reach a high of 56°F. Looking ahead, patchy fog is possible Friday morning, followed by mostly sunny skies. Weekend weather will shift, with rain likely Saturday and lingering showers through Sunday night. Highs will hover around 58°F to 60°F, with lows in the mid-40s.
For those planning travel or outdoor activities this weekend, prepare for wet conditions and potential traffic delays due to rain. Stay updated by checking forecasts and road conditions regularly.
Motorists and residents are encouraged to stay alert and follow safety guidelines as fog and wet weather remain ongoing risks this week.
