Calhoun County Authorities Investigate String of Vehicle Thefts in Springfield

Springfield, MI – Calhoun County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a breaking and entering complaint Friday afternoon in Springfield. The incident, reported at approximately 1:24 p.m. in the 100 block of Avenue B, involved a group of suspects who allegedly attempted to break into a residence overnight and stole items from a vehicle parked in the driveway.

Upon arrival, deputies contacted the female victim, reviewed home surveillance footage, and collected evidence. The break-in was believed to have occurred the night prior. Although the area was canvassed for suspects, no one was found.

According to the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office, additional calls were received throughout the day from Springfield residents reporting overnight vehicle break-ins. Several items were reported stolen or missing, prompting a broader investigation.

The Sheriff’s Detective Bureau is currently investigating and examining evidence gathered at the scene. Potential suspect information has been identified, though no arrests have been made.
