Hamilton, Ohio – A Marginal Risk for severe weather remains in place today across Butler County, with continued rain and a Flood Watch active until 1 p.m.

The National Weather Service Storm Prediction Center has classified the area under a Level 1 of 5 risk for severe storms. Local authorities say additional rounds of rain and thunderstorms are expected to develop later this afternoon and continue into the evening hours.

Some storms could become stronger, with heavy rainfall, strong wind gusts and hail listed as primary concerns. Ongoing rain showers have also increased the potential for localized flooding, particularly in low-lying and poor-drainage areas.

Officials warn drivers to watch for ponding on roadways and to avoid attempting to cross water-covered streets. Gusty winds this evening could down small tree limbs and result in isolated power outages.

Emergency responders say they are monitoring conditions and are prepared to respond if needed. Residents are urged to remain weather aware and to call 9-1-1 in the event of an emergency.

For commuters and students traveling later today, conditions may shift quickly as storms move through the region.
