Buffalo, NY – A Buffalo man was arrested Thursday, August 29, for allegedly stealing a vehicle. The arrest took place during a special police operation using the New York State Motor Vehicle Theft Grant. With support from Erie County Sheriff’s Air 1, Buffalo police successfully apprehended 20-year-old Brayjon McNeil.
At 8:00 p.m., detectives spotted a stolen Kia Forte on Northland Avenue. With Air 1’s assistance, the vehicle was tracked to Rex Place, where the driver fled on foot. Officers quickly apprehended McNeil on Humboldt Parkway after a brief chase. The stolen Kia sustained damage, and burglary tools were found inside.
McNeil faces multiple charges, including criminal possession of stolen property, unauthorized use of a vehicle, and possession of burglar’s tools. He has a previous arrest record, including charges for assault and car theft in 2023.
Police reported that none of McNeil’s charges from the August 29 arrest qualify for bail under current laws. This arrest highlights the importance of special operations in addressing vehicle theft in Buffalo.
