New York – Clouds are already thinning over Buffalo this morning, and brighter skies are starting to break through as the day warms. Roads along I-90 and Route 33 remain dry for now, offering a smooth start before a wetter pattern returns later this week.

According to the National Weather Service, skies will gradually turn mostly sunny today with highs reaching 59°F as light southwest winds develop. The clearing trend continues through the afternoon, making this one of the better outdoor windows of the week.

Across Erie and Niagara counties, conditions stay quiet into tonight with partly cloudy skies and lows dropping to around 39°F. That’s cool but not cold enough for icy concerns, though early risers may notice a brisk start Thursday morning.

Thursday brings more sunshine and a warmer push, with highs climbing to 63°F. Friday stays mild near 59°F, but clouds begin to increase as the next system approaches from the west.

By late Friday night, showers begin to move in, with a 40% chance of rain developing after midnight. Roads could turn slick for early Saturday travel, especially along I-190 and the Buffalo Skyway.

Saturday looks wetter, with a 60% chance of showers and highs near 56°F. Periods of rain may reduce visibility and slow traffic through the day. Showers linger into Saturday night before tapering Sunday, when skies turn partly sunny and highs reach 58°F.
