Erie County, NY – Winter weather has disrupted travel across Erie County, with updated bans and advisories issued Friday morning. The city of Lackawanna and the town of Brant remain under travel bans, while other areas have shifted to travel advisories.

According to the Erie County Sheriff’s Office, advisories are in place for the southern half of Buffalo and numerous towns, including West Seneca, Orchard Park, and Hamburg. Residents are urged to limit travel to essential trips and prepare emergency kits with warm clothing, snacks, and phone chargers.

Temperatures hover near 10 degrees, with wind chills increasing the risk of frostbite and hypothermia. Officials advise dressing in layers, covering exposed skin, and limiting outdoor time. Road conditions remain hazardous due to heavy snowfall, and drivers are reminded to check for closures before heading out.

“Take it slow and plan ahead,” officials emphasized. Travel updates, including a detailed map of impacted areas, are available at www.erie.gov/winter.

Residents are encouraged to check on neighbors and stay informed through local updates.
