BRRR! Wind Chills Drop Into Single Digits Around Memphis

Memphis, Tennessee — Bitterly cold wind chills were reported across the Mid-South early Sunday morning, according to the National Weather Service in Memphis.

As of 5:04 a.m. CST, wind chill readings ranged from the single digits to the teens across portions of West Tennessee, northeast Arkansas, southeast Missouri, and north Mississippi.

Among the coldest readings reported were 6 degrees in Corning, Arkansas and Union City, Tennessee, along with 6 degrees in Blytheville, Arkansas. Wind chills of 9 degrees were observed in Memphis, Jackson, Tennessee, and Kennett, Missouri. Other locations across the region reported wind chills generally between 10 and 15 degrees, including Oxford and Tupelo, Mississippi, Somerville and Parsons, Tennessee, and West Memphis, Arkansas.

The National Weather Service shared the update with a simple reminder of the cold conditions, posting “BRRRRRrrrr…” alongside the wind chill graphic.
