Wichita, KS – Warmer temperatures continue today and Friday across Kansas, but an Arctic front arriving Friday night will bring frigid conditions by the weekend. Highs on Thursday will reach the mid-40s to low 50s, offering residents a brief reprieve from colder winter weather.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS), Friday’s forecast includes sunny skies with highs nearing 49°F in Wichita. Breezy south winds will pick up by afternoon, gusting as high as 26 mph. By Friday night, a strong cold front will move into the region, dropping temperatures into the low 20s with wind chills in the single digits.
The Arctic blast will persist through Saturday and Sunday. Daytime highs on Saturday will struggle to reach 26°F, and sub-zero wind chills are expected in the morning. Winds will shift to the north at 15-20 mph, making conditions feel even colder. Saturday night’s temperatures will dip to a frigid 11°F.
Sunday brings continued cold but clear skies, with highs near 22°F and lows dropping to around 6°F overnight. Residents are advised to limit outdoor exposure during the coldest hours and to prepare for potential frostbite risks from sub-zero wind chills.
