Melbourne, FL – East central Florida will experience seasonably warm temperatures in the low to mid-80s today, with breezy conditions and a chance of scattered onshore showers. A high risk for rip currents continues along area beaches, making swimming dangerous and prompting officials to advise beachgoers to stay out of the water.
According to the National Weather Service in Melbourne, scattered showers are expected to develop along coastal waters before moving inland during the afternoon hours. These showers will primarily affect areas along the coast but may extend further inland as the day progresses.
Additionally, hazardous boating conditions will persist, with a Small Craft Advisory in effect due to northeast winds of 15 to 20 knots, gusting up to 30 knots. Seas are expected to reach heights of 6 to 9 feet, making navigation difficult for smaller vessels.
Beachgoers and mariners are urged to exercise caution today, as hazardous conditions will remain throughout the day.
