Brandon Township, MI – A tragic fire in a Brandon Township mobile home early Monday morning has left one woman dead and three teenagers hospitalized after a swift-moving blaze destroyed their residence.

According to the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office, the fire broke out just after 7 a.m. at a single-wide mobile home in the 3800 block of Cedar Loop, within the Clarkston Lakes community near Sashabaw Road and Oak Hill Road. Authorities say a 46-year-old mother perished in the fire, while her 13-year-old son and two teenage male friends, ages 14 and 15, managed to escape from the front of the home without serious injury.

Sheriff’s deputies and Brandon Township firefighters responded within minutes, but found the mobile home fully engulfed upon arrival. Neighbors attempted to rescue the woman from the rear of the home, but were unable to reach her due to heavy smoke and flames.

The Oakland County Sheriff’s Office stated the cause and origin of the blaze remain under investigation. “While we are still in the process of determining cause and origin, any fire is a reminder that we should make sure our smoke and carbon monoxide detectors are in working order and we know how to escape from any room in our house should an emergency call for it,” said Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard.

Officials say the three teens escaped serious injury, though the incident serves as a somber reminder of fire safety and the importance of working smoke detectors.

The Oakland County Sheriff’s Office Fire Investigations Unit remains on scene and will release further updates as more information becomes available.
