Bourbonnais, IL – The Village of Bourbonnais has launched its annual Winter Food Drive in partnership with The Salvation Army Kankakee, encouraging residents to donate non-perishable food items to help local families in need this holiday season.

According to the village announcement, collection barrels are available at the Administration Office, 600 Main St. NW, and at the nearby Police Station, 700 Main St. NW. Donations can be dropped off during business hours, Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Suggested donation items include canned vegetables and fruits, soups, stews, chili, boxed pasta, rice, peanut butter, jelly, cereal, oatmeal, canned meats, tuna, and instant potatoes or stuffing mix.

Organizers say all contributions will directly benefit Kankakee-area families struggling with food insecurity this winter. The collection effort continues through Thursday, December 12, giving residents just over a month to participate.

Local officials urge the community to come together to support the drive and make a difference as the holiday season approaches.
