Bourbonnais, IL – Bourbonnais Upper Grade Center canceled classes Thursday due to a power outage. The school experienced an electrical failure in the morning, leaving the building without power.

According to Bourbonnais Elementary School District #53, utility crews estimate repairs will take at least four hours. The district cited safety concerns and learning disruptions as reasons for the closure.

Students and parents were notified early to make alternative arrangements. Teachers and staff were also affected, with schedules shifting due to the sudden closure.

The district apologized for the inconvenience and emphasized its commitment to safety. Officials assured families they would provide updates if repairs took longer than expected.

School is expected to resume as normal Friday unless additional issues arise. The district encouraged parents to monitor official channels for further information.
