Boise, ID – A winter storm will bring heavy snow and dangerously cold temperatures to Idaho on Friday, impacting Valentine’s Day plans and travel.
According to the National Weather Service, a Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 11 a.m. Friday, with 2 to 4 inches of snow expected in Boise and up to 6 inches in surrounding areas. Winds could gust as high as 40 mph, creating whiteout conditions on Interstate 84 and other major roads.
Temperatures will remain bitterly cold, with wind chills dropping as low as 15 degrees below zeroThursday night. A Cold Weather Advisory is in effect until 10 a.m. Thursday, warning of frostbite risks for exposed skin.
Looking ahead, Saturday will be mostly sunny with a high near 33, but another storm system could bring rain and snow Sunday into Monday. Residents should prepare for hazardous road conditions and avoid travel if possible.
