Bourbonnais, IL – Big Lots’ Bourbonnais location is set to close as the retailer shuts down stores nationwide following bankruptcy. The store, located at 185 S Kennedy Drive, is among 17 Illinois locations still operating but preparing for final closures.

According to the company, “going out of business” sales are already underway at the Bourbonnais location. The retailer filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in September after closing 400 stores earlier this year. With an anticipated December shutdown, the company is liquidating remaining inventory.

Big Lots, based in Columbus, Ohio, previously sought to sell its operations to private equity firm Nexus Capital Management. While the deal received court approval in October, recent statements suggest it may no longer proceed.

Shoppers in Kankakee County can take advantage of discounted items at the Bourbonnais store before its closure. Store services currently include furniture delivery, grocery options, and SNAP/EBT acceptance.

Big Lots CEO Bruce Thorn announced that the company is still pursuing alternative sale options. Updates are expected by January.
