Fort Worth, TX – A widespread freeze will grip North Texas tonight, with temperatures plunging into the upper 20s and low 30s. Daytime highs Friday reached the upper 50s, but the clear skies overnight will allow for rapid cooling.
According to the National Weather Service in Fort Worth, a dry cold front is responsible for today’s cooler conditions. Winds will shift out of the north at 10 to 15 mph before calming tonight, with widespread frost likely by morning.
A warming trend will begin Saturday, with highs in the upper 50s, reaching the mid-60s by Sunday. Rain chances return late Monday into Tuesday, with a 50% likelihood of thunderstorms on Christmas Eve. Severe weather risks remain low, but forecasts may change.
Residents are advised to protect sensitive plants and check outdoor pipes. Christmas Day promises mostly sunny skies and a high near 65.
