Boston, Mass. – Strong storms could develop across Massachusetts late Sunday, with the greatest risk between 3 p.m. and 10 p.m. Damaging winds and small hail are the primary concerns as scattered thunderstorms move through the region.

According to the National Weather Service in Boston, the storms are expected to remain widely scattered, but any that form could reach severe levels. Areas from Worcester and Springfield eastward to Boston and Providence are most likely to be affected.

The timing coincides with evening travel, raising the chance of hazardous driving conditions from sudden downpours and gusty winds. Outdoor plans may be interrupted, particularly for communities along I-90 and I-495, where fast-moving cells could briefly intensify.

Residents are urged to secure outdoor furniture and avoid open areas during storms. NWS also advises staying indoors when thunder is heard, as lightning will be a risk with any stronger cells.

Storm chances diminish late tonight, though unsettled weather could return early in the week with additional showers.
