Boston, MA – The National Weather Service in Boston/Norton has issued a Wind Advisory from 2 p.m. Friday through 5 a.m. Saturday, warning of west winds of 20 to 35 mph with gusts up to 55 mph across Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and parts of Connecticut.

According to the NWS, the strongest gusts will develop Friday afternoon and persist into the overnight hours, affecting both inland and coastal areas. The advisory includes Boston, Worcester, Springfield, Providence, New Bedford, Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard, Nantucket, and Block Island.

Forecasters warn that the gusty winds may knock down small tree limbs and cause isolated power outages, particularly in areas with saturated ground or older trees. Residents are urged to secure Halloween decorations and other outdoor items before winds increase later today.

The NWS also cautions drivers—especially those in high-profile vehicles—to use extra care on exposed bridges and highways. Winds are expected to diminish early Saturday as the storm system moves offshore and high pressure builds in from the west.
