Boston, Massachusetts – Snow is expected to develop across interior Massachusetts late tonight into Saturday, with 1 to 3 inches of accumulation likely away from the coast, according to the National Weather Service in Boston.
Forecasters said snow will arrive between 1 a.m. and 5 a.m. Saturday across western and central Massachusetts and northwest Connecticut, then expand eastward through the morning. Snowfall will be most persistent across the interior, while eastern Massachusetts and Rhode Island, including the Boston metro, may see only spotty rain or snow showers with little to no accumulation.
Across interior Massachusetts and northern Connecticut, snowfall totals of 1 to 2 inches are expected, with 2 to 4 inches possible in the highest terrain of the Berkshires and northern Worcester Hills. Snow may briefly taper late Saturday morning before another round of lighter snow showers develops Saturday afternoon inland.
Despite limited snow near the coast, very cold and windy conditions are expected today and Saturday. High temperatures Friday will struggle to reach the upper 20s to lower 30s, with gusty winds making it feel colder.
The National Weather Service said travel impacts are most likely Saturday morning across interior communities where roads may become snow covered. Coastal areas should expect minimal travel disruption from precipitation.
Residents traveling west or north of the Boston area early Saturday should plan for winter driving conditions and allow extra travel time.
