Boston, MA – A powerful Arctic blast will grip the Boston area this week, bringing dangerously cold wind chills and the potential for snow by midweek. Residents should prepare for frigid temperatures, gusty winds, and possible icy conditions.
According to the National Weather Service, a wind advisory will be in effect from Sunday evening through Monday night, with gusts up to 50 mph expected. Monday, which marks Washington’s Birthday, will see a high of just 26°F, but strong winds will make it feel much colder. Overnight lows will drop to 15°F.
Tuesday and Wednesday will remain bitterly cold, with highs struggling to reach the mid-20s. Skies will be mostly sunny, but overnight lows will dip into the low teens, increasing the risk of icy roads and sidewalks. Wind gusts up to 29 mph Tuesday will add to the cold.
By Thursday, a storm system could bring snow, with early projections showing a chance of accumulating snowfall. Friday will remain cold, with highs in the low 30s.
Residents should take precautions against frostbite and icy conditions. Those traveling early in the week should expect strong winds and reduced visibility.
